Where can I find Bowenwork® classes?

All current classes can be searched from this website on the Find Practitioner Classes page. Students must start with Module 1 and progress sequentially through the seven modules. New classes are being added regularly, so keep checking the website to find a location or time that works best for you.

What is the tuition?

Module 1 is $350 and Modules 2-6 are $360 each.  Module 7 is $450; in addition, a $75 registration fee is assessed at Module 1 and then due annually to maintain active registration status. Ossie and Elaine’s classes typically are priced with a higher fee.

Where can I find professional practitioners?

Why do I have to pay an annual renewal fee?

The $75 registration fee that is first collected at your Module 1 is an annual fee that covers the cost of our quarterly journal Bowen Hands; admittance to the members’ section of the website; our administrative costs; and several other "practitioner only" benefits. After certification you will also get a website listing and referrals from our main office. For certified practitioners, this annual fee must be current prior to enrolling in continuing education classes.

Will I be reminded my fees are due?

Yes, the administrative assistant sends out a reminder letter at least 30 days prior to the renewal date. If the fee is not paid, she sends a reminder post card 30 days after the renewal date. Your fee is due on the anniversary date of your first Bowenwork class (i.e. you take Module 1 on February 10, 2006, your fee is due again on February 10, 2007, 2008, etc.).

Why should I become a professional practitioner?

While there are a number of lay persons who wish only to work on friends and family and who do not go through the entire training program, we encourage all professionals to complete the program through Module 7. There are several advantages to becoming a fully certified Professional Bowenwork Practitioner:

You are eligible to apply for professional indemnity insurance through organizations such as ABMP.

You are listed on the Bowtech® & Bowenwork websites as a certified practitioner for referrals.

The Bowenwork Academy USA administrative assistant receives hundreds of phone calls asking for referrals. She will refer clients to you as well.

The website listing is a rich source of referrals for a dedicated and growing body of clients and other practitioners who appreciate the speed and efficacy of Bowenwork. This listing represents practitioners who are willing to see the training to its completion and uphold the standards of the Bowenwork Academy USA.

Why do I have to take 32 additional hours of classes every two years after completing Module 7?

We require these continuing education hours because we have found that it is amazingly easy over time to migrate off points, lose confidence in performing procedures one hasn't used routinely, or forget why we do a particular procedure in the first place. We want to assure your competency not only so we can promote you on our web site with confidence, but also for your greatest success.

Why do you sometimes use Bowtech as opposed to Bowenwork when referring to Tom Bowen's technique?

Both are registered trademarks of the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia and are used interchangeably. We typically use  Bowenwork® in the United States. Bowtech®is used more in the rest of the world.
