In 14
days of
Bowenwork®
training with registered
instructors of the
Bowen
Therapy Academy of Australia, over a period of at
least six months, you will learn a comprehensive health system that enables you
to aid clients' recovery from a large range of internal and musculo-skeletal
conditions. You will learn procedures that balance the body overall, plus a
range of procedures that address specific areas of the body, and still others to
use in cases where conditions don't respond readily to the basic procedures.
The Curriculum
in Detail
The
Bowenwork
procedures are taught in six modules, each 16 classroom hours long. The modules
must be taken in sequence because each one reviews and builds on what was taught
previously. Each module is taught in two consecutive days.
When only one module is taken at a time, at least one month must elapse between
each module and the next. Two modules may be taken back to back; in such a case
two months must elapse before taking the next two modules to provide time for
practice and to develop an understanding of the power of the moves.
Students must also complete
10 case studies and 50 logbook hours.
Module 7 is a two-day testing module,
administered by an assessing instructor who was not your instructor in Modules
3-6.
At least one month must elapse between Module
6 and Module 7.
The
content of each module is standard in every country where BTAA-approved
instructors teach. This means that you can travel and study with any combination
of BTAA-approved instructors and be assured that you will have learned the same
procedures as all of your classmates, regardless of their previous instructors.
Every module includes:
 |
Demonstration of each procedure, with detailed explanation of anatomical
landmarks |
 |
Explanation and discussion of the procedures and indications for their
use. The manuals include detailed notes, with photographs and
anatomical diagrams |
 |
Extensive supervised hands-on practice, with feedback from the
instructor(s) |
 |
Ample review of procedures taught in previous modules |
Staying Current
with the Bowenwork Academy USA and BTAA
The $75 registration fee is a yearly fee
that covers a year’s subscription to the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia’s
quarterly publication
Bowen Hands, admittance to the members’ section of the
international Bowenwork website, and our administrative costs. After
completing the requirements to become a professional practitioner, the fee also
includes a listing on the website for referrals. For professional
practitioners, this yearly fee must be paid before you can take and get credit
for any continuing education classes.
We ask our professional
practitioners to remain current in their yearly registration fee. Not only
does it support the efforts of the BTAA to promote Tom Bowen's unique work, but
it supports YOU! Staying current in your registration means you
will always have access to continuing education to expand your understanding and
increase your skills.
While the vast
majority of students complete Modules 1-7 within a year, occasionally
some students will take longer than one year to complete the program.
Such students must be current with the $75 registration fee at the time
they take their Module 7. Paying the $75 fee between Module 6 and Module
7 is optional; however, students who wish to continue to receive the
quarterly Bowen Hands and have access to the members
section of the web site will need to keep their registration fees
current.
After you complete Module
7, all of the requirements to become a Professional Bowenwork Practitioner
(click here for requirements), your annual fee will also include a listing
on the Bowenwork.com web site so that you will receive referrals.
After completing
Module 7, in order to remain active with the Bowenwork Academy USA and
BTAA, you will be required to take 32 hours of continuing education
(CEs) every two years. For more information about Continuing
Education,

Once a Professional
Bowenwork Practitioner, you must pay the yearly fee in order to take and get
credit for continuing education classes.
Cancellation Policy:
Bowenwork Academy USA
recognizes the fact that students must sometimes cancel a class they have
registered for after they have sent in a deposit. The following policy
sets the guidelines for when or if a student's deposit is returned:
-
If a student is sick or for some reason
not able to attend class, but notifies the instructor teaching the class
with 48 hours or more notice, then the student's deposit will be honored
toward the next class s/he takes with that instructor.
- A student who fails to
give the required 48 hours notice forfeits the deposit.
Note: Less than 48
hours notice may be acceptable in the following instances if
documentation is supplied: admission to a hospital, emergency room
visit, or death of a parent, spouse, sibling or child. |

Testing and Assessment Module
The assessing
instructor will provide a list of everything that is covered prior
to the class. It is information that was learned and reviewed
in Modules 1-6.
This includes a
written test on the Module 6 material only and hands-on
demonstration of all procedures learned in Module 1-6, knowing where
all the mandatory pauses are observed, will be assessed.
It is highly
recommended the student attend a Review Class before taking Module
7.
Module 8: $360
Module 8 is a
review of all the material taught in Modules 1-6, with an emphasis
on quality of touch, how to combine procedures to address situations
more efficient and effectively without overloading the body, when to
use minimal prerequisites, and how and when to use only part of a
procedure to target a specific area. A few new procedures, Ossie's
Handy Hints and strapping techniques are introduced.
Discussion of practitioners' clinical cases is included as well.
You must wait 3 months after completing Module 7 to take Module 8.
Module 9: $450
Module
9-Specialized Procedures 1-the 12 new procedures covered are helpful
for the more persistent and unusual symptoms that clients present if
they have not fully responded to the procedures covered in Modules 1
to 6. These procedures are very dynamic and often invoke a whole
body response. It is, therefore, necessary to assess accurately when
to employ them. Very few of them are appropriate for use in a first
session and the power and flow-on effects of these procedures
require an extended integration time. You must wait 9 months
after passing Module 7, attend Module 8 and be accredited to take
Module 9.
Module 10: $450
Module 10
includes a
written and practical assessment on the Module 9 material only and
hands-on demonstration of all procedures learned. A
Specialized Procedures 1 Certificate is issued upon successful
completion of this Module.
You must wait 6 months after taking Module 9 to take Module 10.
Module 11: $500
Module
11-Specialized Procedures 2 is currently taught only by Ossie &
Elaine Rentsch. The SP2 class work is a compilation of extra
moves and procedures. The material "troubleshoots" problems
that have not resolved and offers more options to fine tune a
session for the client. It further reinforces the "less is
best" principle that makes Bowenwork so effective. The
material offers much to the experienced practitioner with extra
procedures (over 30), often for areas where there has been little
direct work before e.g. the head, the abdomen, the quads together
with extra release moves, some stretches, protocols, exercises, a
real bonus for the practitioner with that client with an unresolved
problem. There is material for a huge variety of clients, some
great pelvis, and lower limb work sure to be of benefit to sports
people, digestive moves, and some extra pregnancy moves. Open
to all students who have qualified for the Module 10-SP1
Certificate.
Module 12: $500
Module 12
includes a
written and practical assessment on the Module 11 material only and
hands-on demonstration of all procedures learned. A
Specialized Procedures 2 Certificate is issued upon successful
completion of this Module.
You must wait 6 months after taking Module 11 to take Module 12.
