After becoming a professional Bowenwork®
practitioner, you are required to take a minimum of four days (32 contact hours)
of approved courses every two years in order to maintain active status with the
Bowenwork Academy USA and BTAA.
Eight of those hours
must be practitioner days, which are a review of the Modules 1-6
material, variations and combinations of moves, review of difficult
cases, and interesting anatomical considerations. The remaining 24 hours
may be other classes such as Ossie and Elaine's specialized procedures
and other continuing education classes offered at various times.
We require
these continuing education hours because we have found that it is amazingly easy
over time to migrate off points, lose confidence in performing procedures one
hasn't used routinely, or forget why we do a particular procedure in the first
place. We want to assure your competency not only so we can promote you on our
web site with confidence, but also for your greatest success.
Some of the courses currently
available in the United States are:
Practitioner Days A&B (Module 8), taken together or separately: Part A,
all lower body procedures, exercises and protocols. Part B, all upper body
procedures, exercises and protocols.
Attending Bowtech conferences
Within each two-year period, a maximum of eight continuing education
hours may be earned by attending Bowtech conferences.

Specialised Procedures 1 (Module 9)
Prerequisites apply including:
 |
Completion of Practitioner Days A & B (2 days) (Module 8) course after
completion of Module 7 and prior to taking the class.
|
 |
An
interval of at least nine months is required between the completion of
Module 7 and taking the SBP1. |
 |
You
must also be recommended by an instructor.
|
 |
You
must be current with the Academy (fees and CE hours)
|
Upon taking two SBP1 classes, your
website listing will indicate your completion of this level.
Specialised
Procedures 2 (Module 11)
You are
required to complete SP1 twice (Modules 9 and 10) before being eligible to take
SBP2. In addition, you will need to successfully pass a written assessment
of SBP1 before you are eligible to take SBP2.
A
minimum of six months must elapse between completion of SBP1 and SBP2 to enable
you to integrate and apply the newly-learned procedures. You must be
current with the Academy (fees and CE hours).
Special Electives
Occasionally an instructor from another country comes to the U.S. to offer a
BTAA-approved class. These are advertised in Bowen Hands and
on the website.
Using
Bowenwork
to satisfy other continuing education
requirements:
Modules 1-6 and
Specialized Procedures I & II qualify for 16 NCBTMB credit hours each.
